Aeroforming Machine

  • MLEW AEROFORMER utilizes temprature pneumatic pressure and female moulds to form roll fed plastic material into a wide variety of products having the most complex contour. They combine all three phases of high speed pressure forming - heating, forming, and cutting into a single operation, eleminating trim irregularities and delivering very fast cycles.
  • The process begins when plastic material is unwound from a roll and fed into the forming area. A double toggle mechanism closes the forming press, trapping the plastic sheet against a heating plate. Compressed air is injected through the mould, ensuring complete contact of the plastic material with the heating platen. Exact, uniform and rapid heating is achived by the unique heating assembly.
  • As plastic reaches the optimum forming temprature, air is exhausted from the mould and forming air pressure is applied through thousands of tiny holes in the heating platten. This forming pressure forces the plastic into every details of the mould cavity. As the forming air is vented, the cutting die penetrates the sheet, leaving just enough material to keep the parts connected to the web. The press then opens and the formed parts are ejected and transported to the stripping and stacking stations.
  • Eight individual timers, three speed controls, and four air controls allow ultimate fine tuning of all phases of the cycle. The cycle (which takes from two to five seconds, depending on the material thickness and the mould design) can e shortened by 5 - 20% with MLEW's Aeroform optional pre-heater.
